New Brunswick compliance portal

Your NB safety program, WorkSafeNB aligned.

One workspace for the WorkSafeNB documentation your NBCSA auditor, NBFSA certifier, or SSNB Safety Certified reviewer expects: your safety manual, worker training records, General Regulation 91-191 compliance documentation, and the SAFIS rebate evidence trail.

A New Brunswick forestry and construction site with workers reviewing WorkSafeNB compliance documentation.

The product

Your safety program. WorkSafeNB evidence organised.

One dashboard. One evidence trail. One place a WorkSafeNB inspector, an NBCSA auditor, an NBFSA certifier, or your SSNB Safety Certified reviewer goes to see the safety program you actually run.

The New Brunswick picture

Three sectors, three certifying bodies.

Most NB operators sit cleanly inside one of these three. Many sit across two. The portal serves all of them from a single document base, with one WorkSafeNB evidence trail.

  • A New Brunswick forestry operation worker reviewing NBFSA SAFE compliance documentation.

    Forestry and pulp and paper

    NBFSA / Forest NB

Forestry is New Brunswick's largest industrial sector. 1,285 firms, $1.35 billion capital invested 2023-25, 40 percent of NB manufacturing investment. NBFSA runs SAFE Certification in four tiers by company size - different from construction COR. The OHS Act amendments (June 2024) and updated General Regulation (January 2025) add documentation requirements that did not exist two years ago.

    How the portal serves it

NBFSA SAFE element codes in the audit-prep workspace, all four tiers supported. OHS Act amendment documentation in the vault. Worker certificate tracker for chainsaw operator, skidder, and forest harvester competencies. Compliance Scheduler tracking NBFSA audit cycles by tier.

  • A New Brunswick construction crew reviewing NBCSA COR compliance documentation on site.

    Construction

    NBCSA

NBCSA issues COR and NCSO certifications for New Brunswick construction. COR is the procurement gateway for government and major private construction contracts. The new First Aid Regulation (2024) adds documentation requirements. General Regulation 91-191 now fully enforceable (January 2025) adds requirements for employers using explosives and detonators in site preparation and demolition.

    How the portal serves it

NBCSA element codes pre-loaded in the audit-prep workspace. First Aid Regulation 2024 compliance documentation. General Regulation 91-191 explosives and detonator code-of-practice documentation if applicable. Worker certificate tracker for NBCSA-required safety training. SAFIS rebate evidence trail.

  • An industrial safety professional reviewing WorkSafeNB compliance documentation at a New Brunswick refining facility.

    Refining, energy, and industrial

    WorkSafeNB / ISN

Irving Oil Saint John is the dominant employer and supply-chain anchor in NB refining and energy. ISN dominates for Irving supply chain. NB Power adds another large industrial pre-qual layer. SSNB Safety Certified is the catch-all program for general industry including refining services, industrial maintenance, and aquaculture supply chains. WorkSafeNB is regulator, insurer, and rebate-program-owner in one body.

    How the portal serves it

SSNB Safety Certified element codes in the audit-prep workspace. Master pre-qual answer library for ISN and ComplyWorks. Worker certificate tracker for refinery and process-industry safety tickets. SAFIS experience-rated rebate documentation trail.

These are New Brunswick’s three largest industrial sectors. The portal is built for every Canadian industry - if your sector is not shown above, we still have you covered.

Where NB operators get caught

Four documentation gaps, one WorkSafeNB visit.

Most NB operators have at least one of these. Many operators running forestry and construction, or servicing Irving Oil and NB Power simultaneously, have all four. Each pain has a portal answer mapped to a tier.

  • Three certifying bodies, one contractor: NBCSA, NBFSA, or SSNB

New Brunswick has three safety certification pathways. NBCSA for construction COR. NBFSA for forestry SAFE Certification in four tiers by company size. SSNB Safety Certified for general industry as the catch-all program. An operator who runs both construction and an industrial maintenance arm, or both forestry and a sawmill, may owe certifications to two different bodies. WorkSafeNB is a single regulator for all three, but the certification programs are delivered separately.

    Portal coverage, Compliance+

The audit-prep workspace loads element codes for NBCSA, NBFSA (all four tiers), or SSNB Safety Certified based on your sector. The cross-framework evidence map shows how one document satisfies requirements across multiple certifying bodies simultaneously. If your operation sits across two sectors, both element sets are active in the same workspace.

  • SAFIS rebate requires a documented, auditable safety process

The Safety Achievement Financial Incentive System is WorkSafeNB's experience-rated rebate or surcharge tied to a verifiable safety process and an audit-score commitment. Unlike a flat COR rebate, SAFIS is experience-rated - your incident history and safety process strength both factor in. The documentation trail has to be maintained throughout the year, not assembled before the audit. A gap in training records or inspection logs hurts the SAFIS outcome.

    Portal coverage, Foundation+

The Compliance Dashboard surfaces the safety process metrics the SAFIS assessment reviews: training completion, inspection cadence, incident frequency, and hazard assessment currency. The Document Vault stores the dated evidence trail. The audit-prep workspace organises the documentation in the format NBCSA, NBFSA, or SSNB will request.

  • General Regulation 91-191: explosives, detonators, and seismic blasting now enforceable

New Brunswick's General Regulation 91-191, updated with requirements for explosives, electrical detonators, blasting machine logbooks, code of practice for explosives, and seismic blasting, became fully enforceable January 9, 2025. The First Aid Regulation 2024 added documentation requirements. Operators who use explosives for site preparation, quarrying, or construction now need a code of practice, a blasting machine logbook, and blaster competency documentation.

    Portal coverage, Foundation+

The Compliance Scheduler pre-loads the General Regulation 91-191 documentation requirements including blasting machine logbook maintenance and code-of-practice review cycles. The Document Vault stores the blaster competency certificates and code of practice. The AI Document Builder drafts the explosives code of practice grounded in your manual and the January 2025 regulation.

  • ISN and ComplyWorks running simultaneously for Irving and NB Power supply chains

Irving Oil Saint John and NB Power are the anchors of NB industrial supply chain. ISN dominates for Irving. ComplyWorks is common for NB Power and forestry industrial maintenance. Avetta rising in aquaculture supply chains. Each platform has its own answer set, insurance uploads, and annual renewal. Forestry operators also run ContractorCheck for municipal and utility contracts. Let one platform go stale and the bid stops.

    Portal coverage, Authority

The Authority tier master answer library holds your insurance certificate, WorkSafeNB clearance letter, TRIR data, and safety program certifications in one place. When a new question lands on ISN, ComplyWorks, or Avetta, the portal surfaces the existing answer and suggests reuse. One update, reflected across every platform you are already paying for.

What the portal does

Built for the operator who wears six hats.

You do not need a full-time safety manager. You need the documentation engine a safety manager would build, run by the team you already have.

  • Document Vault

Your WorkSafeNB program documentation, NBCSA or NBFSA or SSNB audit records, worker training certificates, investigation reports, and General Regulation 91-191 compliance files in one workspace. Custom Safety Manual buyers keep manual access forever - the manual is your property.

  • AI Safety Advisor

Reads your safety manual and NB OHS Act plus General Regulation 91-191, points to the specific section and page that answers a team question, and flags coverage gaps. You verify the citation before acting on it.

  • Worker Certificate Tracker

OCR-extracted certificate data with 90, 60, 30, and 14-day expiry alerts. NBCSA-required safety training, NBFSA forestry competency certificates, blaster qualifications, first aid, WHMIS, and any other ticket your roster carries.

  • Cross-framework Evidence Map

One document satisfies multiple frameworks. A WorkSafeNB-compliant hazard assessment can serve NBCSA COR element requirements, support SAFIS documentation, and satisfy SSNB Safety Certified review from one upload.

  • Audit-prep Workspace

NBCSA, NBFSA (all four tiers), and SSNB Safety Certified element codes pre-built. One-click export to your certifying body with documentation organised by element. Auditor interviews and on-site observations stay theirs.

  • Compliance Scheduler

WorkSafeNB posting cycles, NBFSA tier audit cadence, First Aid Regulation 2024 review dates, blasting machine logbook maintenance, General Regulation 91-191 code-of-practice reviews, and training renewals on one calendar. Email and dashboard alerts before anything lapses.

The portal does not replace daily-forms tools (FLHAs, vehicle pre-trips, equipment checks). It is the workspace for the safety manual, certificates, training records, audit-prep, AI document drafting, and recurring compliance scheduling that live alongside the daily-forms layer.

Authority tier preview

Multi-year audit findings, trended.

At Authority tier, year-over-year audit score deltas and recurring findings light up in August 2027 once 12 months of audit cycles complete. The tile shows where your program drifts year over year and which elements keep coming back to the NBCSA, NBFSA, or SSNB auditor.

Competitors cannot copy this without your audit history, which is why it is locked behind 12 months of customer use rather than launched in marketing copy. Audit interpretation varies by individual auditor. The portal helps you prepare and document your safety program. It cannot guarantee audit outcomes.
