How the scoring works.

This quiz is modelled on the 10 core elements auditors weight across COR, SECOR, and WSIB Health and Safety Excellence reviews. Each element is worth 10 points. Yes = 10, Partly = 5, No = 0. The total gives you a directional readiness score out of 100, tuned to the province you select.

A full audit protocol has well over 100 scored questions across these 10 elements. This quiz uses one representative question per element to surface the major gaps quickly. A high score here is a good sign; a low score is an accurate signal that significant preparation work lies ahead.

Common questions about COR audit readiness.

What score do I need to pass a COR audit?
COR audit passing scores vary by certifying partner. Most COR protocols, ACSA and ESC among them, require an overall score of 80 percent or higher with no section below 50 percent. Ontario's WSIB Health and Safety Excellence Program works differently, it is topic-based rather than a single pass mark. This quiz gives a directional readiness score across the program fundamentals; it is not a substitute for your certifying partner's protocol.
How long should COR audit preparation take?
Preparation time depends on the current state of your safety program. Operations with an existing manual and recent records typically need 4-8 weeks. Operations with significant documentation gaps may need 6-12 months. On-Track Safety builds a pre-audit preparation plan that sequences the work and focuses on the highest-weighted sections.
What is the most common reason companies fail a COR audit?
Documentation that exists on paper but cannot be evidenced in practice. Worker interviews that contradict the written program — workers unaware of the orientation process, unable to name emergency procedures, or missing required training — are consistently the largest source of point deductions. Preparation should include both documentation review and worker readiness conversations.
Can I get COR without a safety manual?
No. A documented safety management system is the foundation of any COR audit. If you do not yet have a written program, a manual build needs to precede the audit by at least 6-8 weeks to allow time for implementation and worker familiarisation.
