The audit team

Certified COR auditors who have been on Canadian worksites since 2008.

On-Track Safety Solutions holds both ACSA and ESC external COR auditor certification. Our auditors conduct independent reviews of health and safety management systems across Western Canada, working with construction, oil and gas, and small employer operators.

Certifications

Dual certification. Both protocols covered.

ACSA and ESC certifications serve different sectors and audit instruments. On-Track holds both, which means we can work across construction and oil and gas COR programs without referring you elsewhere.

What an audit delivers

Programs that improve each time through the cycle.

A first-year COR audit almost always surfaces documentation gaps - hazard assessments that exist but are not consistently used, training records that do not match the written competency requirements, corrective action logs that stop short of close-out.

The value of the audit is the audit report. It identifies exactly where the program falls short and gives the company a scored gap list to work from before the next cycle. Companies that engage seriously with the corrective actions see material score improvement by year two and a matured program by year three.

On-Track's approach is plain-language findings with defensible evidence anchors. No compliance theatre. The report has to hold up under the certifying partner's quality control review.

COR - Oil and Gas Sector

SECOR

Common questions

How audits work, plainly explained.

What does an external COR auditor actually do?
An external auditor conducts an independent review of your health and safety management system against a recognized audit instrument (ACSA or ESC). They interview workers and management, review documentation, and score each program element. The score and the audit report go to your certifying partner for review. On-Track does not issue the certificate - that is the certifying partner's role.
Why does the auditor certification matter?
ACSA and ESC auditors are certified under different protocols and use different audit instruments. An ACSA-certified auditor cannot conduct an ESC audit, and vice versa. The certification your prime contractor or project owner requires depends on the sector and the COR program they recognize. On-Track holds both.
How far in advance do we need to book?
For ACSA COR audits, we are booking into late 2027. ESC audit slots have more flexibility. The earlier you reach out, the more scheduling options you have - especially if your certificate has a hard expiry date.
Can we use On-Track for consulting and then have you audit us?
No. An external auditor cannot also be the primary consultant who built the safety program they are auditing. That is a certifying-partner conflict-of-interest rule, not just our preference. If On-Track built your safety manual, we will refer you to an independent auditor for the COR audit itself.
What province do you audit in?
On-Track is based in Red Deer, Alberta, and audits across Western Canada. The audit province depends on where the work is performed and which certifying partner holds your company's registration. Contact us for specifics on your province and sector.
Do you conduct SECOR audits directly?
Yes. Our team coordinates SECOR audit engagements from initial scoping through to certifying-partner submission. SECOR applies to smaller employers (typically 10 or fewer workers) and uses a shorter audit instrument than full COR. Contact us to scope your SECOR eligibility.
