What is on a tag

Six parts, each one doing a job

Ladder inspection tag showing the header, caution line, QR code and write-on inspection grid
  1. 1

    Zip-tie hole

Reinforced, at the top. Hangs from a rail, a D-ring, a shackle or an extinguisher bracket.

  2. 2

    Colour-coded header

The status read from a distance. Green for safe, red for out of service, and the equipment named in full.

  3. 3

    Caution line

The one instruction that matters, printed where nobody can miss it.

  4. 4

    QR code

Optional. Opens a link you supply - your own checklist, register or form. We print it; you host it. See "How the QR code actually works" below.

  5. 5

    Write-on grid

Date, inspector, next due. Your own columns on the custom tag. Works with a pen and no technology at all.

  6. 6

    Your company

Printed on the footer of the custom tag, so the tag reads as your programme.

How the QR code actually works

You bring the link. We print the code.

This is not a hosted tracking system - it is a QR code pointed at a page you already control. That keeps it simple and keeps it yours: nothing to log into, nothing that stops working if a subscription lapses.

1

You give us a link

Any URL you already have or can make in five minutes: a Google Sheet, a page on your own website, a shared Google Doc, a Microsoft Form. You paste it into the designer when you build the tag.

2

We print it as a QR code

The code is generated from that exact link and printed onto the tag. One link per pack - every tag in that order opens the same page.

3

Anyone scans it with a phone camera

No app required. The phone opens the link the same way it would if you texted it to them.

What we do and do not do today

We print the code. We do not create, host, edit or track what is behind it, and we do not see whether or how often it gets scanned. You are responsible for keeping your page current - if a link changes or a page comes down, the tag stops working until you update your own page or order a new tag with a new link.

Some companies keep it as simple as one link that opens their existing equipment spreadsheet. Others build a short form or a folder of PDFs. Either works - the code does not care what is on the other end, only that the link is live.

Want a system where scanning the tag opens a live inspection record we host and track for you? That does not exist yet. Tell us if it is something your crew would actually use - it would change how we build the next version.

Why ours are different

Most sellers give you half of this.

The inspection-tag market splits in two. Software companies sell you a system and expect you to find tags somewhere else. Sign printers sell you a tag with nothing behind it. We print the tag and we are a safety company, so the tag carries the record, the wording matches the programme, and if the programme itself needs writing, that is the work we do every day.

The grid

Works on day one, with a pen, with no account to set up.

The code

Your record, your page, changeable without reprinting.

The programme

Written by the people who audit against it.

Design your own

Your header, your colour, your logo, your inspection columns, your link. See it on screen and approve it before you order.

From $119.00 per pack of 25.

Open the tag designer

From here to hanging on the ladder

  1. 1

    Pick the tag

Seven stock tags for the equipment most sites already inspect, or design your own.

  2. 2

    Add your link

Point the QR at the record you keep. Skip it if you want a pen-and-paper tag.

  3. 3

    Approve and order

Choose a pack size, pay, and it prints in Red Deer. We check it before it goes to the printer.

  4. 4

    Hang it and use it

Zip-tie it to the equipment. Every inspection gets written on the tag, where the next person will see it.

Questions we get asked

What are the tags made of?
Rigid weatherproof tag stock, 2.8 by 4 inches, with a reinforced zip-tie hole at the top. UV and moisture resistant, so a tag hung outdoors in April is still readable in October. Zip ties are not included - most sites already have them.
Do I have to use the QR code?
No. Every tag carries a write-on grid that works with a pen and nothing else. The QR is there for companies who want the full history reachable from the equipment, and on the custom tag you can switch it off entirely.
What does the QR code open, and who sets that up?
You supply the link when you design the tag - your own Google Sheet, a page on your website, a form, a shared folder, anything with a URL. We print that link as a QR code. We do not create, host, or track the page behind it, and we do not see if or when it gets scanned. One link per pack, and you can change what that page shows any time without reprinting the tag.
Can I put our own wording and columns on it?
Yes - that is the custom tag. Type your header, pick the colour, add your logo, name your own inspection columns, choose how many rows, and see it on screen before you order.
How many inspections fit on one tag?
Five or six lines depending on the tag, and up to eight on the custom one. For a monthly inspection that is most of a year; for a shift inspection you would replace the tag more often, which is why they are sold in packs.
Will these satisfy a COR or SECOR auditor?
An auditor samples equipment records and checks that the inspection your programme requires actually happened. A completed tag on the equipment is direct evidence of that. It does not replace the written programme that requires the inspection - if you need that written, that is our safety manual work.
How fast do they ship?
Printed and shipped from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada-wide within 2 to 3 business days. A custom tag adds a short check by our team before it goes to the printer, or longer if you ask for an emailed proof.
