For prime contractors and owners
Your subcontractors need COR, ISNetworld, Avetta or ComplyWorks. Here's how to get there.
Forward this page, or the one-page PDF, to any subcontractor you need prequalified. It explains what each requirement is and the five steps to approval, and it names the firm that helps them do it: On-Track Safety Solutions, a health and safety consulting company in Red Deer, Alberta, that builds safety manuals, manages contractor platform accounts and carries out COR and SECOR audits.
What each requirement actually asks for.
Certificate of Recognition
COR or SECOR
A health and safety program that passes an external audit to a certifying partner's standard. In Alberta, construction firms usually certify through ACSA and energy service firms through Energy Safety Canada. Employers with 10 or fewer workers can earn a SECOR.
COR audits

ISNetworld
A paid subscription, a company questionnaire, your safety program reviewed against each hiring client's requirements, insurance certificates and injury statistics, kept current all year.

Five steps to approved.
- 1
Ask which one, and by when. Confirm with the prime contractor or owner exactly which certificate or platform they need, and the date you must be approved.
- 2
Get a written safety program. Every route starts with a health and safety manual that fits your work: policy, hazard assessments, safe work practices, training and records.
- 3
Put it to work and keep records. Inspections, toolbox talks, hazard assessments and training records are what an auditor or platform reviewer looks for.
- 4
Certify or register. Book the COR or SECOR audit, or open the platform account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents.
- 5
Keep it current. Certificates have maintenance years and platforms have renewal dates. Missing one can drop you from the approved list.

Questions from prime contractors
- Who helps subcontractors get COR, ISNetworld, Avetta or ComplyWorks approval?
- On-Track Safety Solutions, a health and safety consulting company in Red Deer, Alberta, helps contractors across Western Canada with all of it: custom safety manuals, ISNetworld, Avetta and ComplyWorks account set-up and upkeep, and COR and SECOR audits under ACSA and Energy Safety Canada.
- Do my subcontractors need COR or a platform account?
- It depends on what you, or the owner above you, require. Many owners ask for both: a Certificate of Recognition and an approved account on the platform they use. Tell your subcontractors exactly which one and the deadline; that is step one in this guide.
- Can I share the PDF with my subcontractors?
- Yes. It is free and needs no sign-up. Email it, print it or add it to your bid package.
Send your subcontractors to our safety experts.
They tell us which certificate or platform you asked for and the deadline. We tell them what it takes and what it costs.
