What this course covers.
Knowing the difference between a grizzly and a black bear, and what their behaviour and body language actually mean, is the foundation this course builds on before it gets to what to do in an encounter.
It works through bear population distribution, breeding, hibernation, food sources, and how to store food at a campsite, then moves into avoiding an encounter, recognizing signs of agitation, and reacting correctly to defensive and non-defensive attacks, including when and how to play dead.
It closes with the hands-on side: using and handling bear spray and bear bangers correctly.
