What this course covers.
The Incident Command System is the standard structure used across North America to organise the response to an incident, from a small workplace emergency to a multi-agency disaster. ICS 100 is the entry point: it does not teach how to run an incident, it teaches the structure well enough that the higher-level courses make sense.
The course works through the history of ICS, how command is established, the ICS organisational structure, facilities and resources, how the system is managed, and the common responsibilities every ICS role shares.
Employers use this course as the foundation before ICS 200, and to give staff who may fill a role in a larger organisation's emergency response the shared vocabulary and structure ICS depends on.

Your certificate
A mark of 80 percent is required, with two attempts on the exam. On completion, a certificate of completion is available to download and print. This course is AEMA-equivalent and AMHSA-accredited, and may be eligible for 0.4 CEUs under the BCRSP Continuing Professional Development Program. Retaking every three years is recommended.
