What this course covers.
Flagging is province-specific work: the signs, the hand signals and the workzone setup a flagperson uses in Saskatchewan are set by Saskatchewan's own construction safety association, not by a generic national standard. This course is HCSAS's own program rather than a general Canadian flagger course applied to Saskatchewan after the fact.
The course covers Saskatchewan's own traffic-safety legislation and the flagperson's responsibilities under it, personal protective equipment, flag person station and positioning, hand signals, and how to safely direct traffic through a work zone - closing with a downloadable Saskatchewan Flag Person Manual for reference on site.
This online course is the theory half only. HCSAS requires a separate practical evaluation, conducted by a certified Flag Person Instructor at the employer's own worksite, before the certification is complete - the employer arranges and keeps record of that evaluation, and HCSAS states plainly that it is not responsible for training done outside the organisation.

Your certificate
This course covers the theory portion only. A mark of 80 percent is required to pass, with three attempts on the final exam. Passing earns a certificate of completion issued by HCSAS with the theory completion date - but the certification is not complete until a certified Flag Person Instructor conducts a separate practical evaluation at the worker's own worksite. The employer arranges that evaluation and is responsible for keeping the training and evaluation records on file; HCSAS states in writing that it is not responsible for training completed outside the organisation. A downloadable Saskatchewan Flag Person Manual is included for reference alongside the online course.
