About the course
What this course covers.
A chainsaw is one of the most commonly used and most commonly mishandled tools on a worksite, and kickback is the hazard behind a large share of chainsaw injuries. This course covers how kickback happens, how to hold and position the saw to avoid it, and the personal protective equipment a chainsaw operator needs before starting a cut.
It also covers routine maintenance and pre-use checks - chain tension, bar condition, and chain brake function - that keep the saw operating the way it is designed to.
Employers use this course to document chainsaw safety awareness for workers who use one occasionally as part of a broader role, alongside hands-on field training for anyone cutting regularly.
