About the course
What this course covers.
Personal protective equipment is a worker's last line of defence against a worksite hazard. When the hazard cannot be removed or engineered out, it is the hardhat, the glasses, the gloves, and the boots that stand between a worker and an injury - which is why every employee needs to know how to select, use, and maintain the PPE their job calls for.
The course teaches the basics of the common forms of PPE: head protection, eye and face protection, hearing protection, and hand and foot protection. It sets PPE in context with the hierarchy of hazard controls and the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers, and gives a brief overview of more specialised equipment including fall protection, body and limb protection, and high-visibility safety apparel. Respiratory protection is not covered here; it is the subject of its own dedicated course.
Companies use the PPE course as foundational training for new workers and as a refresher across a crew, and to give a documented training record an auditor or contractor pre-qualification platform looks for.

What learners say
Trusted by Canadian crews
This is the first course we assign a new hire. It puts PPE in context with the hierarchy of controls instead of just listing gear.
Janelle K.
Safety Coordinator
Straightforward and quick. Good for a whole-crew refresher when our inspections show people getting casual with their gear.
Rob T.
Site Supervisor
Clear on the difference between selecting the right protection and just wearing something. The hearing and eye sections were the useful parts for our floor.
Amrit S.
Warehouse Lead

Certificate and format
How the course runs
Your certificate
Knowledge testing runs throughout the course and a mark of 80 percent earns the certificate; the course can be repeated three times if the pass mark is not met on the first attempt. On completion the worker downloads and prints a certificate of completion valid for three years from the completion date.
- Fully online and self-paced - about 75 minutes of content
- Mobile-friendly - start on a laptop, finish on a phone
- Instant access as soon as the course is purchased
- Covers head, eye, face, hearing, hand, and foot protection
- Pass mark is 80 percent, with up to three attempts
Why it matters for compliance
Occupational health and safety legislation requires that workers are trained to select, use, and maintain the personal protective equipment their job calls for. This course provides that foundational training and the documented record a COR auditor or a contractor pre-qualification platform looks for.
