About the course
What this course covers.
A fire watch is the designated person who protects everyone on a worksite from fire, and they are often posted to supervise hot work or any task that produces heat, sparks, or flame. Doing the job well takes more than standing nearby - it takes knowing how fire starts, how to prevent it, and what to do when one breaks out. This course gives a fire watch that knowledge.
The course is presented in four chapters. It covers the basics of being a fire watch and the responsibilities of the role, the components of a fire and how fires are produced, the devices and equipment used to fight fire including the different types of extinguishers, and the procedures for responding to a fire. It finishes with a final exam to confirm the knowledge.
Companies use the course to train designated fire watches, particularly for hot work, and to give a documented training record an auditor or a contractor pre-qualification platform looks for.

Trusted by Canadian crews
We post a fire watch on every hot work job. This course makes sure the person standing there actually knows the role instead of just holding an extinguisher.
Glen T.
Safety Coordinator
Four clear chapters and a final exam. The fire-procedures section is the part that matters when something actually ignites.
