About the course
What this course covers.
An impaired worker is a hazard to themselves and to everyone on the site, and nobody wants to work alongside that risk. Occupational health and safety legislation, and better-informed employers, have made being fit for work a serious workplace expectation. This course makes that expectation clear to every worker.
The course covers the prevalence of alcohol and drug related issues in workplaces today, the legalities governing fit-for-work policies, and the importance of wise choices and compliance. It works through alcohol and drug work standards, the actions to take when a worker is suspected of being under the influence, the consequences of non-compliance, and the reasons a worker might be asked to submit to drug and alcohol testing.
The course sets out that while the employer carries the primary responsibility for compliance with OHS legislation, both the worker and the employer share the duty. Companies use it to train workers in fit-for-work expectations and to give a documented training record.

Certificate and format
How the course runs
Your certificate
Testing runs throughout the course and a mark of 80 percent earns the certificate; the course can be repeated twice if the pass mark is not met on the first attempt. On completion the worker downloads and prints a certificate of completion.
- Fully online and self-paced - about 30 minutes of content
- Mobile-friendly - start on a laptop, finish on a phone
- Instant access as soon as the course is purchased
- Suitable for workers across every industry
- Pass mark is 80 percent, with up to three attempts
Why it matters for compliance
Occupational health and safety legislation requires that workers are not impaired in a way that endangers themselves or others, and many worksites carry a fit-for-work policy. This course gives workers alcohol and drug awareness training and the documented record a COR auditor or a contractor pre-qualification platform looks for.
