About the course
What this course covers.
A telehandler reaches up and out at the same time, and that reach is exactly what makes it dangerous - extend a load too far and the machine tips. Operating a variable reach lift truck safely takes real understanding of stability, load charts, and the machine itself. This course builds that understanding before an operator is certified.
The course covers the federal and provincial legislation for variable reach lift trucks, the machine hazards and common incidents, the different lift truck classes, and the components, controls, and safeguards. It works through capacities and in-depth stability principles, the proper use of load charts, pre-operational inspections and function tests, maintenance and hydraulic hazards, and the operating rules - steering modes, loading and unloading, work platform use, and shutdown. The course is built to meet and exceed CSA Standard B335-15 and ANSI B56.6.
The course is the theory and written-exam portion of telehandler certification. An employer practical evaluation, performed by a supervisor or authorised person on the actual machine, completes the certification, and the course provides the evaluation checklist and instructions to carry it out.

What learners say
Trusted by Canadian crews
Telehandlers do everything on our sites, and tip-overs are the real risk. The stability and load-chart sections are thorough, and the practical checklist made our in-house evaluation consistent.
Reg M.
Site Superintendent
It is the theory half of certification done right. We pair it with our supervisor evaluation and the records hold up for our prime contractor.
Tara L.
Safety Coordinator
Detailed without being dry. The steering-mode and load-chart sections were the parts I needed sharpened up.
