About the course
What this course covers.
A bucket truck lifts a worker and their tools to heights that once needed scaffolding or a crane. That convenience comes with real risk - a lift set up wrong, loaded past its chart, or operated near a hazard can tip or drop. This course trains the operator to use the equipment the way it is meant to be used.
The course introduces the types of aerial lift and how they are used, then covers the anatomy of a vehicle-mounted lift, the pre-shift inspections and records it requires, and the stability principles and load charts - including critical lifts - that keep it upright. It covers the common hazards of aerial lift work, rigging considerations, the safe operation guidelines, and the hand signals that direct the job. The course meets OSHA requirements for powered industrial aerial lifts.
Public works, road maintenance, and utility crews use this course to qualify bucket truck operators and to give a documented training record a COR auditor or a contractor pre-qualification platform looks for.

What learners say
Trusted by Canadian crews
Our line crews are in buckets every day. The inspection and load-chart sections are exactly the discipline we wanted reinforced.
Lyle T.
Operations Supervisor
Required before anyone operates a bucket truck for us. The certificate runs two years, so we build the renewal into our training matrix.
Priscilla N.
Safety Coordinator
The stability and critical-lift section is the part that keeps you out of trouble. A good refresher even after years in the bucket.

Common questions
Questions buyers ask
How much does the Vehicle Mounted Aerial Lift course cost?
- The course is 99.99 CAD per seat. Use code ONTRACK10 at checkout for 10 percent off an individual purchase, or set up a free On-Track Safety corporate account for 20 percent off every course for the first three months when training a crew.
How long does the course take?
- The course is about 90 minutes of content and is fully self-paced, so an operator can complete it in one sitting or across a couple of shorter sessions without losing their place.
Does the certificate expire?
- Yes. The certificate of completion is valid for two years from the completion date shown on it, after which the operator retakes the course to stay current.
How is this different from an aerial work platform course?
- This course is built for vehicle-mounted aerial lifts - bucket trucks and cherry pickers mounted on a truck or van. The Aerial Work Platform course covers self-propelled scissor and boom lifts. Operators are trained on the equipment they actually run.
Does this course replace hands-on equipment evaluation?
- The course delivers the knowledge-based training and the documented certificate the work expects. A practical evaluation on the specific lift is arranged separately by the employer on top of this training.
