About the course
What this course covers.
Alberta sets specific weight and dimension limits for commercial vehicles - by axle group, by vehicle configuration, and for overall length, width, and height. This course reviews those baseline limits and explains why they exist: an overweight or oversize vehicle handles differently and puts more stress on infrastructure and other road users.
It is a companion course to load securement training. Weight and dimension compliance is only half the picture - a load also has to be secured once it is within the legal limits.
Carriers use this course to document that drivers and dispatchers understand the weight and dimension rules that apply to their equipment before they need a permit for anything outside the standard limits.
