About the course
What this course covers.
Pipelines move oil and natural gas to market, and building one puts crews around heavy equipment, chemical hazards, deep trenches, and changing ground for the length of a project. PCST gives both entry-level and experienced pipeline workers an in-depth picture of the hazards in every phase of pipeline construction so they recognise them and go home at the end of the shift.
The course is built from scenarios and activities inspired by real-world events and runs through ten chapters: a general overview, general hazards, chemical hazards, personal protective equipment, working environments, general rights and responsibilities, right-of-way preparation, pipe assembly, pipe installation and cleanup, and incident and emergency response.
PCST is recognised by the Canadian Construction Association for Gold Seal Certification credits and is used across the pipeline sector to train and document crews. Companies use it to qualify pipeline construction workers and to give a documented training record an auditor or contractor pre-qualification platform looks for.

Trusted by Canadian crews
The ten chapters cover the job the way it actually runs - right of way through to cleanup. New hands show up understanding the phases instead of learning them the hard way.
Garrett L.
Pipeline Construction Supervisor
Gold Seal recognised and accepted on every project we have bid. The chemical hazard and emergency response chapters are strong.

Certificate and format
How the course runs
Your certificate
A mark of 80 percent or higher earns the certificate of completion. The course is recognised by the Canadian Construction Association for two Gold Seal Certification credits. On completion the worker downloads and prints a certificate of completion valid for five years from the completion date.
- Fully online and self-paced - about 6 hours of content
- Videos, activities, and real-world scenarios across ten chapters
- Recognised for two Gold Seal Certification credits by the CCA
- Mobile-friendly - start on a laptop, finish on a phone, Google Chrome recommended
- Pass mark is 80 percent
Why it matters for compliance
Occupational health and safety legislation requires that workers are trained for the hazards of their work. On a pipeline construction project those hazards span every phase of the build, and PCST provides the documented training record - and the Gold Seal credits - a COR auditor, a general contractor, or a contractor pre-qualification platform looks for.
